Rainy week in Sydney

It has been pouring rain in Sydney this week and after being drenched on the way home from work yesterday, today I'm staying dry by dusting off my Hunter Tour gumboots and wearing them for the commute to work today.

Uniqlo sweater dress (girls sz 11-12), Hunter Tour boots (UK 3), old Kmart necklace great value for money for $4 worn on a daily basis

I previously shared my shopping experience and first impressions of the Hunter Tour boots in this post and compared it to the Original Tall and Refined Glossy versions. Overall the Tour packable boots are softer and pliable compared to the other models, and the style suits petite ladies with shorter legs as it's not as tall as the Original Tall and doesn't hit the knee caps. One year on, I'm still super stoked with these boots and get a little thrill every time I get a chance to wear them. I don't get much opportunity to wear them in Sydney as we usually tend to get sunny beautiful weather all year round, but this year we are apparently going through a La Nina wet weather patch, so I'm glad I've got these boots on hand.

Hunter Tour boots, good length comes up to under my knees which makes it a little more comfortable than the Original Tall boots.

Once I get to the office I change into a pair of black pumps to smarten up the look. It's been very cold lately also so I've been virtually living in these Uniqlo souffle yarn knits in both sweater and sweater dress versions. I'm wearing the girls' sweater dress in a size 11-12 in the dark grey, which ends at my lower thighs and not too inappropriately short. The material is a thick material. I also bought a lighter grey colour in girls' size 13-14, which I find a tad too big. I think these sweater dresses also come in women's versions but I bought the girls' size last winter purely because it was cheaper and I thought the girls' shorter length might be cuter on me. Swap rain boots for commuting in rain into heels at the office; Witchery Ivy 85mm black suede heels (old season, new season Gwen), new favourite work tote bag from Salvatore Ferragamo (plain black leather version here)

Uniqlo Souffle Yarn Knit sweater dress (girls size 13-14), Gregory Lander fluffy beanie from David Jones, YSL small Loulou bag in white

Complete the look with camel wrap coat and Milana floppy hat

Where to shop for Hunter boots:

In case you're not keen on splurging on a pair of gumboots that you may or may not wear often, here are some 'save' rather than splurge options that I scouted online. Kmart, Target and Big W are my go-to options here in Australia for saving on items. However I have to confess I have not seen or tried these on in real life so am unsure about the quality and how they hold up in terms of wear and tear. If you have tried these gumboots on before, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them and whether they are good value. Leave a comment down below!

Lastly, my heart totally goes out to those who have been severely affected by the flash flooding, particularly those people who were affected earlier in the year and just recovering from the flood damage and now having to go through the traumatic experience again. A big thank you to all the emergency service workers who are out helping those in need in this torrential wild weather. Hope you all stay safe in this wild weather and stay cozy!
