Tussah floral mini dress + The Iconic try on haul

During early spring, I always find myself wanting to wear flirty little floral dresses but then realise that the weather can be deceivingly cold despite the sunny weather. It was boiling hot yesterday in Sydney, up to the 20-something degree celsius and today it's rainy and wet. Go figure!
Spring dresses can be on the more flimsy and thin side when it comes to the thickness of the material so I simply add a cozy sweater cardigan and some knee high boots to add some warmth to the outfit. I also tend to stick to lighter coloured accessories like cream, beige, grey or taupe, rather than black to keep to the spring palette. This was my outfit this weekend for the weekly grocery run. Any excuse to leave the house is an excuse to dress up these days!

As always, I also love being able to style one piece of clothing item for multiple occasions. Adding a blazer to pretty much any outfit smartens it up for the office. Just a quick note about this blazer, I absolutely adore Reiss clothing. This blazer on me is more of an oversized look and ends mid-thigh. The sleeves are also long but I simply fold them inwards to shorten it without having to take the tailors.

When the weather gets much warmer, I would wear the dress on its own with some tan or white sandals. Or go frolicking barefoot in the grass when we can have outdoor picnics!

About the dress: this was one of my sales picks from The Iconic 40% off Exclusive Edits that I shared a few weeks ago. It's from Tussah the Label. The dress is totally up my alley in terms of its length (technically a 'mini' dress but on me it ends just above the knees), round neckline rather than scoop or V neck (so that my decolletage doesn't get sunburnt), and it has the best ruffle sleeves I have ever known (which is almost a shame to cover it up with a cardigan). The material is polyester and thin but dress is fully lined. There is an elastic waist with a tie, and a single button at the back of the neck. If you're not in a rush to get the dress, I would recommend waiting for a sale. Whilst the dress is cute enough, I don't think that the quality of the dress is amazing for the over $100 RRP price tag.
From my mini shopping haul, I also kept this other pretty little floral dress from Savel.

Again the material is on the thin side but fully lined and not see through. I mostly kept this dress because I realised all of my floral dresses are short sleeves whereas these ones are long sleeves and would also keep me warm.
However, for the rest of my mini haul, I was not so lucky and ended up returning these items:
1. Atmos & Here organic tee shirt - original price $24.99, sale price $14.99. I thought this was an amazing price for a 100% cotton t-shirt. The style was good and while the t-shirt wasn't see through, I was after something that was thicker in material, again just personal preference in terms of sun protection.
2. Mango Mom Jeans - original price $79.99, sale price $47.97. The material was great! 100% cotton, thick and sturdy. But the main reason I returned these jeans was simply that these didn't fit great on me. I felt frumpy in them. The length was long and bunched up at my ankles as you can see in the photos. It definitely looked much better when I rolled up the hem and it also added some personality and looked pretty good actually when worn with some high heels. In terms of sizing which was a bit confusing, I took a stab in the dark and got size 34 (AU 6). It was a little snug but I think was the right size as I would expect jeans to stretch. These are high waisted.

3. Savel Gianna coat in dusty blue - I ahmmed and uhhed a bit over whether to keep or return this. I loved the pale dusty blue colour, the wrap coat style that felt very Hollywood glam, but in the end decided the tailoring was not sharp enough for me to keep it. As you can see in the photo, the shoulder area was baggy and the sleeves too long, again looking much better if cuffed up. The coat ended mid-calf, which can seem a little overwhelm my petite frame, but at the same time seemed very grown up. On the plus side, the material was very soft and plush, even though it was 100% polyester. Original price $149.95, sale price $89.96. I got my usual size (size 6). This coat would be a gorgeous coat on someone taller perhaps, over 160cm or so.

And lastly, something practical - No show cotton socks. I've been wearing these for over two weeks now and think they were a great buy. Original price $19.99, sale price $11.99 for pack of 6 pairs. The material is 95% cotton and 5% elastane. I've worn them with my sneakers and they are definitely no show and best of all stay on my heels, unlike many other no-show socks I've tried. I did think the cotton material is on the thinner side say compared to my Bonds socks, but I don't think this affects the comfort or quality of the socks. Though might need to report back after several months of wear.
