Petal & Pup spring try on

H&M bardot top xs, Petal & Pup Kylo skirt on sale (wearing size 6),
Tony Bianco sandals - similar nude sandals herehere and here

I've been wanting to try out Petal & Pup for a while and now that I think about it, I'm not sure why I haven't already since coming across this brand multiple times on my Instagram feed last year. This was my first time browsing their website and there are so many pretty items within an affordable price range, with most items between $50 to $100 AUD and sale items between $20 and $50!

I was fairly excited to spot a few pieces that fit the brief of what I have been on the hunt for during the past few months: a satin slip skirt in a spotty print and white cotton summer dresses. In today's post, I'll be sharing the three pieces that I bought recently from Petal & Pup and my mini try-on haul.

Petal and Pup Kylo skirt

1. Kylo skirt in blush - on sale $20 (RRP $49.95)

This is a simple but elegantly cut satin print skirt in a blush pink colour with black dots. I have been on the hunt for a leopard print satin skirt but this blush colour was too pretty to resist. It's a midi length and ends just below my calves. It is fairly simple with an elastic waist, no zipper and is unlined but I had no issues with undie lines showing through. It has a high low hem, with the front hem of the skirt being slightly higher and the back of the skirt being slightly lower and almost touching my ankles. I'm wearing my usual size in 6 and would say that this skirt was TTS and a good fit.

I plan to wear this skirt to work, paired with more formal tops like a soft flowy shirt as pictured above, or with a cami and cardigan combo and in colder weather with a knit sweater. Because the skirt has a beautiful satin sheen, it actually looks more formal and luxe than the $20 price tag would have you think.  You could even wear this out on date night, to a smart casual gathering or even dress it up for a wedding event. I think this would be look great with an asymmetrical tank singlet in black and a little black clutch bag. I still haven't found the right pair of black strappy sandals so in the meantime I'm pairing it with mys strappy nude sandals from Tony Bianco from several years ago.

Daffney dress (size 6)

2. Daffney dress - RRP $59.95

This dress is the stuff that summer picnic dreams are made of! This dress is made of a soft flowy 100% cotton and is fully lined. It is maxi length and the hem just skims the floor in barefeet. It has an elasticized bodice and waist, no zippers, and cute shoulder straps that you tie into a bow. The shoulder straps are wide enough and well positioned so that my bra wasn't showing through (I hate it when you can't wear a bra). However, the bodice area is unlined and I would suggest wearing a nude coloured bra. If you look very carefully in the photo, you might just see the faint colour of my mint green bra peeking through. I'm wearing my usual size 6 in this dress.

Leela white cotton dress here (sz 6)

3. Leela dress - on sale $35.00 (RRP $89.95)

There were many things that I loved about this last dress, but unfortunately my conclusion was that this dress is too baggy and swamped me so I will be reluctantly returning this dress.

The points I liked about this dress are: 100% cotton and just the right thickness material that's not see through yet breezy for summer weather. It is also very comfortable. I was wearing it all afternoon while editing my videos after taking some shots and it was so comfortable that I forgot to change out of it! The main body is lined and not see through at all either.

The dress however was just too billowy in all directions, both front and back and in the sleeves. There is a deep V neck in the front that dipped as low as my bra. There is a tie at the back where you could adjust how tight you want the dress, and when I had it done up as tight as possible, the front view was not too bad but on the side view I could see excess fabric bunched up.

Adding a belt at the waist always helps to add shape to a baggy outfit. Such a shame because this dress was the exact sort of style (minus the deep plunging V neck) that I'd been looking for in a summer dress. I'll just have to continue on my search then!

This was my first time ordering from Petal & Pup and I was overall happy with the service. They offer free delivery for orders over $100 and my parcel arrived very quickly within three business days. For orders under $100 delivery fee is $8.95. The returns process seems fairly easy as per their website description but will cost $9.95 for return shipment.

Have you tried on any pieces from Petal & Pup? If so, what were your thoughts and recommendations? And of course if you have recommendations for a good white cotton summer dress, please share down in comments below as I am currently on the hunt for one!
