Ally Fashion: Spring dress mini haul

Polka dot halter midi dress (sz 8, few sizes left), on sale $15.99,
cream version $17.99 here, Mulberry Darley clutch

In today's post, I share my review on three very cute spring dresses that I recently ordered from Ally Fashion. I'm super happy with how gorgeous they were when the parcel arrived and best of all they were all under $40!

I tend to think of Ally Fashion more targeted at younger girls in their teenage years or early 20's. However, on the occasions when I browse their website, I always end up falling in love with at least a dozen dresses that I add to my wish list and eventually have to cull down to my favourite three to take to final check out. They have heaps of adorable pieces, many of which are included in their sales section for $30 or under.

First up, is this polka dot halter midi dress in navy with pink and cream dots that was on sale for $15.99!

Dress has a high low hem, back of dress finishes just below my heel so may possibly be trodden on!

It's described as a midi dress, but on me I feel like I would call it a maxi dress. It has a high-low hem (high in the front and low in the back) and the back hem just grazes the ground when I'm wearing flat sandals. I'm going to have to be careful about not trodding all over the hem or else best to pair this dress with shoes with a slight heel.

Halter neck style with adjustable shoulder straps, removal tie waist

The front is halter style as mentioned and has adjustable shoulder straps. There are no zippers or buttons on this dress. There is an elastic waist and removable waist tie. I'm usually a size 6 in most clothing brands, but in Ally Fashion I can fit both a size 6 and 8, with the size 6 being very fitted with no extra room to budge and the size 8 feels much more comfortable without looking oversized, so I would suggest taking one size up. I took a size 8 in all three dresses that I bought in this haul. I've paired this outfit with a blush pink clutch bag and nude sandals. I also cover up with a cropped denim jacket for sun protection and extra warmth for those chilly spring breezes.

The second dress that I also love is this denim ruffle smock dress:

Dress (sz 8), old raffia clutch from Seed and Sportsgirl clogs

Again, this dress is exactly as described by its name. The denim is a cotton/polyester/spandex blend and is of thin to medium thickness material. It's very soft and comfortable, and the spandex gives it a tiny amount of stretch. There is a button closure at the back of the neck and again no zippers.

I particularly love the ruffle sleeves and ruffle hem on this dress. I'm also wearing one size up compared to my usual (sze 8 instead of sz 6) and it's a perfect fit. The hem ends above my knees and does not feel like a mini dress. The denim colour has a faded vintage shade which is different to other denim dresses that I've owned.

And lastly, this dress would be the exact definition of my ideal spring picnic dress. It's a gingham midi dress in blue check:

Gingham midi dress in blue check (sz 8) $39.99, black version, old belt, sandals and round straw bag

This is the most perfect shade of blue for spring/summer. It's described as a midi dress but on me it falls all the way down to my ankles so feels more like a maxi dress again. Luckily the hem doesn't touch the ground. The shoulder straps tie into bows on both sides so you can adjust the length. There is an elasticized bodice and no other zippers or buttons. The skirt does feel a tad too long, so can look a bit out of proportion so I'm wondering whether I should take up the hem a little, but I do like wearing midi/maxi dresses in summer for extra sun protection on my legs compared to shorter dresses.

I can't seem to find this gingham dress on the Ally website at the moment but they have a black/white gingham version as well as the prettiest pastel green here.  *Update 09/01/2022: Blue gingham dress restocked at Ally website here*. You can also type 'gingham dress' into the search box on their website if you're after something in gingham. They have the biggest collection that is sure to fulfil your spring gingham fantasies. This blue gingham dress also comes in a kids version and would be super cute as a mummy and me combo. Another great place to look for plenty of gingham styles is on SHEIN with very similar blue gingham midi dress here.

Ally Fashion stores are also open now so you can check out their items in store, though some items are online exclusives. There is free delivery for online orders $60 and over. There is free returns in store or $9.15 postage via Australia Post.

Sunflower picking at Glenbernie Family Farm, NSW

I wore the check gingham dress to our berry and sunflower picking road trip last weekend. The Boy had a bit of a chuckle that I looked very much like the role of a rustic farm girl! I'll be sharing the details of our mini road trip on the blog soon so be sure to come back to have a read if you're interested.
