Dinner at Glass Brasserie at The Hilton and a Simple but Snug Winter Outfit

Last weekend, my friend B invited me to join her for a catch up dinner at Luke Mangan's Glass Brasserie at the Hilton Hotel (Level 2/488 George Street, Sydney). This is probably our third of fourth time catching up at this restaurant and we always love the delicious food, relaxing ambience as well as the convenient location right opposite QVB. It's a short walk from Town Hall train station and there is also a light rail stop right in front of the hotel.

Let's get into the photos of the evening:

Entree: Pan roasted scallops, broccoli and wasabi, Jamon iberico with dashi butter

We ordered bread to start, scallop entrees to share, one main each followed by petite four dessert for sharing. We also ordered a side of green beans with garlic but probably didn't need to have ordered it as we were both pretty full by the end of the meal. My favourite dish of the evening was probably the scallop entree. The jazzy feel of the restaurant made me feel like I could just sit there and chat to my friend the whole evening. Service was lovely and attentative without being overbearing. The menu price is on the $$$$ side. We used to have the Entertainment Book which gives you a variety of discounts on dining and I'm not sure if it's still included following Covid pandemic. If you know of any promos codes let me know! The hotel felt really suave and was just a tad curious what the hotel stay experience would be like.

Mains: Steamed blue eye trevalla fish, french peas, pancetta, confit fennel,
Noily Prat emulsion and elderflower dressing

Mains: Grass fed sirloin, pumpkin puree, braised red cabbage and eschallot jus

Current menu (July 2022)

Sourdough bread to start - light and fluffy

Beautiful setting - would love to come back again, maybe for a girls' night out

Outfit for the evening was a casual sweater, jeans, wrap coat and ankle boots. This weekend in Sydney it literally poured down with rain so I dressed to stay warm rather than a fancy cocktail dress. I swapped the heels for ankle boots at the door as there was no way my heels would have survived the rain.

Tonight's dinner outfit - casual and just trying to stay warm!
Uniqlo Souffle yarn sweater (XS), AG Farrah jeans (sz 26, 70cm inseam for cropped version) - extra 20% off at checkout, YSL Le Carre mock croc bag,Witchery Ivy 85mm suede heels (old season, new season Gwen linked here) - swapped heels for these boots due to the rain

Quick note about the AG Farrah skinny jeans - it comes in regular length (75 cm inseam) as well as cropped length (70 cm inseam) which I've linked. My Theresa is currently having 20% off selected sale styles and the discount is automatically applied at check out.

My YSL Le Carre bag is currently one of my go to bags! It's so easy to pair with outfit and easily fits wallet, phone, plus a couple of other small accessories. This is the mock croc version which is harder to come by. It also comes in smooth leather in black, nude and the white version is just absolutely stunning! A similar style is the YSL Solferino bag which comes in small and medium, and both very similar to Le Carre bag.

My Witchery Ivy 85mm suede heels are from previous season, but this winter there is a very similar version with a slightly more curved heel called Gwen also in 85 mm heel. I just noticed that the patent blue and silver metallic versions of these are on sale at AUD $49.95! Witchery shoes are usually leather upper and leather lining and great quality. I have owned the Ivy heels in three different colour ways and usually tend to nab them when they're on sale down to under $100. They're great for pairing with office outfits and are pretty much my everyday office heels.

 'S Max Mara Messi coat (sz IT36 = DT32).
My Theresa website seems to have it half price compared to other websites!

The shops were closed on my way to the restaurant but couldn't resist a spot of window browsing. These edgy ankle boots from Novo Shoes caught my in their window display. They look like an affordable alternative to Valentino rockstud boots.

Window browsing on the way to restaurant. These boots from Novo shoes caught my eye- very Valentino-esque. Black and nude versions here. Currently on sale with 30% off.

I'm usually not a jewellery girl but these sparkly rings from Pandora also made me stop in my steps. Especially love the cute ring set on the left, another classic style at an affordable price range. I'm feeling very precious over my diamond engagement ring so thinking if it's worth getting a 'dummy' ring to wear for everyday and I wouldn't need to worry so much.
