Forever New: Winter TAF20 Sale July 2023

There have been a few cute mini dresses that I've been eyeing for the longest time so I was stoked to see them on sale with the additional discount. In this post, I'll be sharing my mini dress haul from this sale as well as other items I purchased earlier in the year or have tried on in store.
The first dress is the Joanna Essence mini dress and this is fast becoming my favourite dress this winter. It has the most beautiful sepia-coloured floral print which makes it such a pretty and romantic dress.

It has semi-sheer sleeves and the whole dress feels floaty and ethereal. It is a technically a mini dress but on me the hem falls just above the knees. It has gorgeous rose gold coloured buttons down the front that you hook into loops to do up the dress (may not suit those who hate fiddly little buttons). The dress is fully lined and has a ruffled skirt. I took my usual size (size 6) and it's a perfect fit. This dress would suit occasions like high tea, date night or evening going to a daytime wedding. I bought this leading up to my wedding week thinking I would have lots of pretty occasions to wear it to and am still enjoying wearing it out since the wedding.
I wore it to our one month wedding anniversary picnic at Observatory Hill, which is one of our favourite scenic spots in Sydney as it looks down into the harbour with the bridge in full view.

The second dress that I was excited about in this mini haul is the Liana Puff Sleeve Mini Dress in the red peony blossom print.

The dress is exactly as described - it has subtle puffed sleeves and is a mini dress length (for height reference I am 150cm or 5 foot tall). It comes up to my lower thighs. It has a square neckline with ruched bodice at the top. There is a gorgeous coral-red peony floral print throughout the dress. The dress is more suitable for spring or summer time. The material is viscose, which is light and airy and the dress is fully lined. It has a side zipper.

The second dress is a winter one and is probably one of the best bargains coming in at AUD $59.95 plus additional 20% off sale price. The photos do not do this dress justice and I haven't quite been able to capture how elegant this dress is. Caution - this is ladylike in the front and party in the back with a deep plunging V!

It is a black mini dress in a tweed material. Again it has subtle puffed sleeves and is mini in length. The round neckline has tiny diamante detail to add some sparkle to an otherwise plain dress. I took my usual size 6 in this dress and it is a snug but good fit. The dress had also come in a white boucle version which I thought would have been perfect leading up to my bridal season but alas was sold out. You would need to wear a backless bra for this dress, as the V plunge goes below the bra line. The tweed material is fairly thick and heavy weight so this would be more suitable for colder seasons. The dress does up with a concealed side zipper.

The next floral dress is somewhat similar to the first one. I think I might end up just keeping one of them and returning one as they are very similar in style. The Joanna dress I showed earlier has a round neck while this one has a V neck and this one is more cream in the background colour.

The dress has beautiful dusty pink coloured roses and various floral blooms all over the dress. There is no zipper but the dress is a pull over style with an elastic waist. There are little round gold buttons down the front but these are just for show as the dress does not do up via these buttons. There is also a waist tie as well. The sleeves are semi-sheer but the rest of the dress is fully lined. The dress would be suitable for spring or if worn in winter would need a warm coat. I took my usual size in this dress.
I am pretty sure I had bought this on sale along with my other dresses but the website is currently saying it is at full retail price of $149.95.

The next couple of dresses are items I bought previously but are included in the current sale. The Juniper Sequin mini dress has become one of Forever New's signature dresses and is so stunning covered entirely in sequins. This makes it the perfect party dress or a birthday occasion when you literally want to be the sparkling disco ball at the centre of the party. Because of the long sleeves, this would more suitable for colder weather and definitely too hot to wear for New Year's partying in our Australian summer.

This one is in the silver-black has a gradient going from silver sequins at the neckline and darkens into black sequins from the waist down. It is a little heavy (and warm) with all the sequins but that's why I think it's a winner for me as a winter season party dress. It is also available in other colours like hot pink and gold, though the gold may have been sold out already. I am wearing a size 6 and as usual it is a snug fit. The sleeve length is slightly long on me but not noticeable bunched up at the wrists. I have tried this dress in the petite sizing and I did not notice much difference between petite and regular versions apart from the petite being slightly shorter in length. I think both petite and regular versions would work for someone of my height.
Another signature dress from Forever New is their Carolina Satin Flutter Sleeve Dress. I first tried this style on a few months ago while searching for potential bridesmaid dresses. It comes in a variety of colours so you can have your pick of your wedding colour scheme. It is a wrap style midi length dress with a waist tie at the front and beautiful flutter sleeves. I can't quite remember whether the dress is lined or not but I definitely remember the material being good quality thickness and no issues with undie lines showing. The Carolina dress also comes in a petite version which is slightly more snug for me and shorter in length. Both petite and regular sizes fit me fine in my usual dress size.

To match my bridesmaid dresses, I was also on the hunt for faux fur wraps or jackets to keep my bridesmaid warm as our wedding was in the middle of Sydney winter. I instantly fell in love with the faux fur wraps from Forever New. They felt so luxe and plush compared to several other faux fur wraps I tried from other stores. They also come in a few different staple colours such as white/ivory/cream, black and navy which makes it easy to match any bridal party colour scheme. I particularly loved this dove grey colour which coincidentally was a great match for the dusty rose bridesmaid dresses that I ended up picking. The dove grey colour would match almost any colour outfit anyway so it's very versatile. It looks like the dove grey version is no longer available on the website but there is a blush cream version which is just as nice, though sadly not currently on sale.

Just a quick note and some tips to make sure you ladies get the best bargain as savvy shoppers:
- I have seen Forever New do a 'Take a Further 40% Off' sale items in the past but it's not always every season. So, if you think you'd like to hold out a bit longer I would recommend doing so, but if you think the current sale prices are good enough and/or worried you might miss out on your size, add them to your cart now!
- Also don't forget to activate your Shopback link when shopping online.
